North American Carillon School to host workshop in Centralia, Ill., Aug. 25-29, 2014

From Monday, August 25, through Friday, August 29, 2014, the North American Carillon school will host its first Summer Carillon Workshop in Centralia, Illinois.  The workshop will be limited to 9 participants. Early sign-up deadline is May 15, 2014.

Three of the NACS instructors, Carol Jickling Lens (Denver, Colorado), Lee Cobb (Lake Wales, Florida) and Carlo van Ulft (Centralia, Illinois) will provide instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Carl Zimmerman, Robin Austin and others will provide lectures on various topics. The Centralia Carillon (65 bells Paccard) and its matching practice keyboard, located in the new offices of the Centralia Carillon/NACS, will be available to the participants and instructors throughout the five days of the workshop. Chime Master Systems, from Lancaster, Ohio, is co-sponsoring the workshop by providing the use of one of its Digital Practice Keyboards for additional teaching and practicing.

Wednesday will be a travel day to visit the Rees Carillon (Springfield, Illinois), Principia College (Elsah, Illinois), and Concordia Seminary (St. Louis, Missouri), and to allow participants to try out the instruments. A participant concert is planned on Thursday evening on the Centralia Carillon.
